Refinishing hardwood flooring, Cant get rid of linoleum glue.?
I have been working on my kitchen and recently discovered the original floor to be hardwood. I ripped the top layers of linoleum tile, followed by plywood, followed by linoleum sheet. Under the sheet I found a felt like material that I later found to be asbestos that is glued to the hardwood. So, far the only thing I found that could remove this thin felt like material and the glue is wet rags, letting soak for 15 30 minutes and then rubbing. I tried wallpaper remover and that did not help. The water would work but would take me forever. Other than sanding is there a better alternative?

What is the best way to keep my hardwood flooring clean?
We live on an Air Force Base and our house has hardwood laminate flooring, the swiffer leaves a weird film and I don't feel like it cleans very well, if there a Vacuum mop combo that works? Thanks.

What to do with stain on hardwood flooring that wont dry?
This is basically the story I installed and sanded a red oak floor within one of my landlord's apartments. She's finished a couple floors before, so figured she could save some money by finishing the job herself. She had never stained before, so I gave her the lowdown " wipe it on, wipe it off" . Well.......She wasn't happy with the darkness of the stain so she skipped the " wipe it off" part and simply let it sit. I wasnt aware of what she had done until a day after the situation, so I did what I could and went around the whole room wiping up the excess with a towel. It has now been 3 days since the application and it's still not dry and just looks terrible plenty of coagulated stain on the surface so thick in some places that it's difficult to see the grain of the wood. What can I do to make a decent looking finish?

How much would it be to replace the hardwood flooring in just my living room where a few spots have buckled?
Room is 10' by 12'. Also if the flooring can be replaced at a reasonable price, can they match it to the rest of the house?

Do I really need a 3/4" gap between the walls and the hardwood flooring?
I am about to install my 3 4 inch hardwood flooring and am looking at the instructions as well as other manufacturers instructions . They all recommend that you leave a 3 4 inch gap between the wall and the starting piece and the end of the hardwood strips. My question is, I want to leave about 1 4 inch so I do not need to use a large 1 4 round piece to cover this big gap. Do I really need 3 4 of an inch gap? If the floor expands 3 4 or even a half an inch, I am guessing the wood would have to buckle and rip out staples for this to occur. This really would require massive expansion.Any experience comments with this are greatly appreciated. Thanks,Jack

Should I get hardwood flooring or laminate for my new condo?
My condo is 650sq ft. I really like the look of hardwood flooring. My budget for flooring is $3000. Is that reasonable?

Wanting to find first quality hardwood floors for the best price?
I am on a limited budget and had to tear my carpet out. I rescue and rehome senior dogs, and am wanting to install hardwood floors. I love the antique looking wider plankl satyle floors, and checked but to buy them from carpet store they were very expensive, does anyone know of a reliable good place to buy hardwood flooring for a reasonabe price? I spend alot of my funds on saving the dogs and that is the most important thing if I can not find floors for a good price, i will have to think of something else to do. Right now I have particle board floors. I found some mohawk pine hardwood that was handscraped that I love, but it is about 9.00 per square and that is just too expensive for me to pay.

Staple stains in hardwood floors...need advice please!!!?
I pulled off the carpet from my hardwood flooring. The carpet was held down with staples and tac strips. Most of the floor is ok, however, there where dark spots left in the hardwood after i removed the staples. I would like to avoid refinishing and instead just screen and recoat the floor. Is there product i can use to get the marks off without refinishing the floors?
